A Bit About Me
Welcome to my Resume. As a committed mother, wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, and healthcare professional, I am dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of others. My goal is to empower individuals through my expertise while advocating for the significant contributions that nurses make to the healthcare system. Together, we can highlight the essential role of nurses and work towards systemic improvements within our communities.
Professional Profile
With 17 years of experience in the medical field, I have spent 6 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and 11 years as a Registered Nurse. My expertise spans various settings, including the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Home Health, and Primary Care Clinic, as well as Substitute School Nurse care. I am committed to delivering high-quality care and positively impacting the lives of my patients.
Education
August 2024 - May 2026
Master of Science in Nursing
Henderson State University
I have successfully completed my Master of Science in Nursing, with a focus on Nursing Executive Leadership and Administration. This degree has prepared me to make significant contributions and implement positive changes within the nursing and healthcare communities. I am eager to apply my expertise to enhance patient care and improve healthcare systems.

I am currently finishing my nursing educator courses with an expected completion date in August 2026. During my NELA MSN and Nursing Educator Course, I have engaged in two noteworthy projects. First involved the early implementation of inpatient palliative care services, while the second, which I am currently undertaking, entails collaborating with the director of health services at an Arkansas school district to establish baseline healthcare plans for school nurses to tailor to each individualized student's specific needs. Upon completing the course, I intend to take the certification exam for nurse educator to advance my career in this important field.
August 2023 - August 2024
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Henderson State University
During my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I recognized the importance of advocating for both my patients and fellow nurses. I conducted research on the reimbursement challenges faced by nurses and was disheartened to learn that we are not permitted to practice independently, despite our ability to perform nursing diagnoses and interventions autonomously. In response, I established the Nurse Shawna 2015 website to provide essential health education and consultation services. However, I encountered difficulties related to billing through health insurance, and I am actively following the Commission for Nurse Reimbursement to remain informed about their ongoing healthcare overhaul initiatives.
August 2013 - May 2015
Associate of Science in Nursing
National Park Community College
After graduating from high school, I embarked on my journey in healthcare as a certified nursing assistant. My experience caring for my grandparents during their health challenges ignited my passion for providing exceptional care during times of struggle and in emergency situations. Working across diverse environments—such as nursing homes, psychiatric units, and various hospital departments— solidified my understanding of the need for advanced nursing knowledge. This realization led me to pursue a registered nurse degree, equipping me to deliver the highest standard of patient care.
